4 Things Jocko Teaches YOU Need to Know

Discovering the Path

Discovering the Path.

The path is hard for most, as I always say you suffer in one or two ways.

Like in the gym or sitting around doing nothing.

You either feel the pain as you run miles upon miles or curl reps upon reps.

Or, you sit around as lazy as can be and just gain weight.

Either way you are going to suffer, but one brings much more greatness than the other which will you choose?

How I discovered the Path.

I discovered @jockowillink at one of the lowest points of my life.

I was overweight, I was a borderline alcoholic, and just blamed everyone else, but myself.

Until I discovered the path. The path is not easy, it’s suffering. It’s finding out who you are.

I realized I’d rather suffer through becoming a better version of myself than suffer where I was.

On his podcasts, he’d always talk about Jiu-Jitsu this, or Jiu-Jitsu that.

I wondered. " What is this Jiu-Jitsu shit "? I googled a gym, where I was living at the time.

Virginia Beach Jiu-Jitsu

It is owned by Scott Oates and Dale McClellan ( go there if you’re in the area )

Long story short, the first night I got my ass kicked! And I was obsessed.

It was the first time I couldn’t lie to myself, and point the finger.

As the saying goes “There is no lying on the mats “ And that is a fact. But…. Back to

@jockowillink. Here are 4 things I learned from him that changed my life.

1. Detachment

It is the ability to step outside of your emotions and have some situational awareness around you.

This is a fantastic skill to implement that you can use day to day. I see it all the time. When people are arguing about something stupid and you’re sitting there thinking “Are these fools for real LOL “.

I will say, it is easier said than to actually Implement.

Learning detachment is an absolute necessity if you want to unlock your full potential.

2. Subordinate your Ego

Your ego is what makes you who you are, it’s not always a bad thing, but there is a dichotomy.

It more than often LLIEESS to you, ‘ I KNOW EVERYTHING “, “ THIS PLAN IS SO STUPID “, “ WHY DON’T YOU DO IT MY WAY “

You see what I mean? We all know someone like this, just a straight EGO MANIAC.

They know everything and there is just nothing you can tell them. Avoid these morons at all costs.

“Yea, you're right man, idk what I was thinking. “ That is my go-to, just let them be. Check your own ego.

3. Extreme Ownership

Like I said in the beginning. I was blaming everyone, but myself for where I was at in my life. My job, my wife, my dog, my cat.

No seriously all jokes aside, no matter what your circumstance is, you have more control than what is perceived.

4. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

This sport is amazing.

If you want to find out who you are, go spend 1 year 3-5 days a week inside a BJJ gym.

It's grueling, fun, and challenging, you will question “Why did I even come “.

It's all a part of the process. How life is.

My first gym was all these things packaged in one, and I was able to get my blue belt there.

I signed a death sentence when I signed up for Jiu-Jitsu.

I encourage you to join the mats of justice.

Closing thoughts.
